Introduction

Bridgeway's School Improvement Committee began its work in 1999 by using the district's mission statement, That all will learn, as its guiding force.  From the district's mission and through collaboration they developed the vision statement.

Bridgeway's Vision Statement

Bridgeway is a community that challenges and inspires everyone to reach his/her full potential.

We are united and empowered to create a school where:

·      All students demonstrate significant improvement in their understanding and application of the Show Me Standards

·      All students are responsible citizens

·      Parents and community members are involved

·      Everyone is assured of a safe environment

Bridgeway's vision supports Pattonville's mission and vision, which are noted below.

Pattonville's Mission

That all will learn

To become responsible citizens in a nurturing environment where

·      diversity means strength,

·      knowledge means freedom and

·      commitment means success.

Pattonville's Vision

We Envision Pattonville as a (n)

Caring community where all learners are valued, loved, respected, and regarded as our hope for today and the future.

Safe community where respect for self and others is demonstrated; where integrity and dignity guide behavior.

Learning community where all are challenged to excel.  We see students as life long learners and problem solvers who are academically prepared for success and committed to excellence.

Interdependent community where unity among students, families, patrons and staff fosters learning, responsibility and an appreciation of the diverse individual.

We Envision All Pattonville Students as

Contributing citizens of their school, community, country, and world.  We see students living their hopes and dreams through self-reliance, commitment, compassion, and cooperation.

The following plan represents an expanded school improvement team focus. The updated plan continues to respect and retain some of the targets and indicators of the goal that students will demonstrate significant improvement in their understanding and application of the Show-Me Standards. The philosophy of the team has been to continue implementing the strategies from the previous plan that have proven successful and to develop new strategies to improve student achievement.

The school improvement team has scheduled monthly and/or bimonthly meeting as necessary to develop proposals and to further discuss strategies.

To ensure vertical agreement, the plan has been shared and is supported by Dr. John Heskett, Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Services, and Scot Mosher, Principal of Pattonville Heights Middle School.

A summary of the School Improvement Plan was sent home to each Bridgeway family through their youngest child. Each family was asked to complete and return a brief survey to the school.  A total of 260 surveys were sent home with the youngest child in the family.  A total of 97 surveys were returned giving the team a survey return rate of 37%.
